It doesn't make me sexist. It makes me a human being with personal interests and preferences. Don't attack an artist for being politically incorrect. An artist's goal is not to please everyone. You will not change the artist, you will only hurt them the same way unsupported artists have been hurt. "Don't draw that, I want to see this instead. Nobody wants to see that." Believe it or not, "privileged" artists still have emotions, still have feelings, and still put years of effort and work into becoming successful.

Instead of attacking an artist that doesn't share your values, support those artists with non-mainstream ideas who aren't getting the support they deserve.

Wow, thank the Cosmos I'm not alone. I draw girls more than boys but it's just the boys I draw come out so....ugh. I used to get asked if I was a lesbian in middle school. I'm getting better though now that I'm High School.

I do the same thing. It could be due to being a latch-key kid with a single mom and jack for strong male role models. Maybe some kind of latent transexualism. Maybe I'm just a pervy. I just stopped giving a shit if people want to read into it, they don't want me to dig up why they expect me not to draw women, do they. :3

Thank you so much for this.

I'm so sick of people telling me that i should draw something that isn't macabre. Its all I want to draw, it makes me happy and it helps me grow as a person. At one point, somebody said I should Go to a concentration camp and die because I drew something he didn't like. It hurt me really bad, and I put tons of time and effort into what I do. Why can't I just draw what I want? :<

I happened upon this journal. Kind of a long story, I gallery hop a bit every now and then.

But amen to this - all of this. People act like art is supposed to please every single person. It's almost impossible for any given art piece to please the whole of the world. If it were so, half the things wouldn't exist.

Personally I dunno why people keep pulling this 'privilege' crap all the time from tumblr to dA to everywhere in between. Everyone is in some way better or worse in some aspects when it comes to 'privilege'. I'm not good at walking anymore, but it doesn't mean I'm going to assault others who not only are good at it, but enjoy it. It's not fair to bash those who are better OR worse off unless they're being a jerk about it, which I dunno how drawing girls is mean or cruel. :(

I kind of draw females a bit. Doesn't make me sexist, and it's not my intent - nor is it most people's intent when they draw X to be a [X/Y]-ist of some sort.

Anyhow, well said. Especially that part about everyone still having emotions D:

At least pictures of girls are popular. I mostly draw boys, which nobody wants to see :<

But yeah, people should just not look at art they don't like. No sense looking at and hating on artwork you're not into when you could spend all that time enjoying your favorite stuff.

What? Are you fucking serious? I'd understand people criticizing an artist for promoting racism, sexism and the like, but to blame an artist because he draw more of a peculiar subject is complete bullshit.... Man... People sure can be stupid sometimes...

Just draw boys that look like girls. Call them boys and scold your fanbase for thinking they're female. :P

I really agree with *AetherealBunny, though; female characters do tend to allow for more complexity in design. Cute clothes, boyish clothes, sexy plugsuits, short hair, long hair, pigtails, ponytails, ribbons, clips, frills, etc. etc.

It sucks that you're getting crap for that. Your designs are really great~ I hope you keep up with the good work.

Are people saying you need to draw more men or something? I pretty much draw exclusively girls (I'm more of a plushie artist now) but I never got crap for it. Girls are just more fun to draw, they have curves and you can give em cute clothes :)

It doesn't help they're arguing in an age where female main characters tend to be more loved then male, mainly due to usually being more complex(despite the obvious "lolsexyorcute"). It doesn't help we still live in an are where people expect too much specific requirements for a male lead while female's tend to be able to vary. We expect to much macho from our men ouo;
